Apollo God music and poetry. Once, God Apollo discovered that the thief of his cattle was his brother, God Hermes. Then Apollo chased Hermes, and Hermes, to soothe the anger of his brother, began to play music with his lyre. Apollo heard the sounds and melodies, filled with joy, and his soul was overwhelmed with desire for this strange, sweet musical instrument of Hermes.

God Hermes had no objection, he handed the lyre to his brother Apollo, and said to him:

“Take the lyre, my brother, from my hands and do whatever you like with it. Give joy to festivals, dances, lavish banquets, fill with amusement the days and nights. The lyre responds easily to anyone who asks, with skill and wisdom, knows and teaches all the good in the spirit”.
