Alejandro Chaskielberg, an Argentinean photographer working worldwide and living in Argentina, is Director of Photography from the
Argentina's National Film and Audiovisual Art Institute. He began his career as a photojournalist, working in local newspapers and magazines but soon realized he wanted to showcase images not possible within the media. After stint as musician, he started doing documentaries for television.

Since 2006 Alejandro devotes his time to his personal projects. His work has been exhibited at the New York Photo Festival and the Brighton Biennial. He also exhibited at the photo festivals Paraty en Foco (Brazil) and El Ojo Salvaje (Paraguay). His latest exhibition in 2012 was hold at the Ring Cube Gallery in Tokyo

Alejandro is the winner of the 2011 L'Iris d'Or at the Sony World Photo Awards. Also in 2011 he received the POYI - Latin America Pictures of the Year as the best Latin American Portrait. In 2009 he was the recipient of the BURN online magazine Emerging Photographer Grant. He also won the Talent Latent Award as part of Spain's SCAN' 09 Festival, as well as the Leopold Godowsky Jr. Award from the Boston University. He was named as one of PDN magazine’s 30 New and emerging photographers to watch. In 2008 he was invited to participate in the National Geographic All Roads Photography Program.

Alejandro Chaskielberg es Director de Fotografía egresado del Instituto Nacional de Cine (INCAA)

Comenzó su carrera profesional a los 18 años, fotografiando para revistas, diarios y agencias, donde desarrolló un cuerpo de trabajo con temática social y como retratista. Trabajó como director y guionista de documentales para la televisión pública, realizando más de cuarenta documentales.

Desde 2006 comienza a exhibir sus propios ensayos fotográficos y gana el premio Curriculum Cero otorgado por la galería Ruth Benzacar. En 2008 es premiado por la National Geographic Society y exhibe en Los Angeles, Washington y Nueva York. En el año 2009 la revista neoyorkina PDN, lo nombra como uno de los 30 Fotógrafos Emergentes del año. También en 2009 gana el premio internacional de fotografía Scan 09 – Talent Latent otorgado por el gobierno de Cataluña y el premio internacional de fotografía color Leopold Godowsky Jr. otorgado por la Universidad de Boston.

Alejandro ha recibido la beca BURN Emerging Photographer Grant – otorgada por la fundación Magnum,y exhibió en la Brighton Photo Biennial. En 2011 obtuvo el POYI Latin American Awards, a la mejor fotografía- retrato de latinoamerica y el prestigioso premio L´Iris D´Or, World Photographer of the Year, como el fotógrafo más destacado del año, sobre más de 16 mil fotógrafos de 160 países.

En 2012 ha sido premiado por el IPA – International Photography Awards por su trabajo Turkana, sobre comunidades en riesgo de hambruna en Kenya

Con su trabajo La Creciente, Alejandro exhibió en Buenos Aires, San Pablo, Nueva York, Londres, Asunción, Barcelona, San Francisco, Washington DC, Roma y Tokio. Fue expuesta en los festivales de fotografía de Nueva York, la bienal de Brighton, el festival Ojo Salvaje de Paraguay, Paraty en Foco de Brasil, y el festival SCAN de España. Este trabajo fue publicado en revistas de todos los continentes, entre otras por The New Yorker, The New York Times, la BBC de Londres, RTE de Irlanda, The Guardian (UK), la Folha de San Pablo, La República de Italia, el Boston Globe, Fotoforum de Alemania, Traveller de China y Phap Photo de Japón.
